In 1840, the first page of the history of Agência Abreu was written. Its protagonist was Bernardo Luis Vieira de Abreu, a native of Rossas, Vieira do Minho. Inspired by the movement of emigrants from northern Portugal and Galicia, especially to Brazil, Bernardo de Abreu established himself that year in the city of Porto, on Rua do Loureiro. There, the first travel agency in the world to open offices to the public was born. Agência Abreu quickly gained prominence as a highly diligent service provider in its various areas of expertise, initially involving the processing of passports and emigration visas, as well as the sale of train tickets to Lisbon and ship tickets to South America. Over the years, destinations expanded to Africa, North America, and Europe.
